Moonseed is a well-established, respected, home-based Ragdoll cattery in Columbus, Ohio, registered with both TICA and CFA. For six years, we've focused on one thing above all else: raising Ragdoll kittens that are healthy, affectionate, and true to the breed standard, health and temperament always come before looks.

Every cat and kitten at Moonseed is raised underfoot, so that socialization isn't an afterthought,  it's built in from day one. That's why our kittens grow up to be true shadow cats: social, affectionate, and always wanting to be part of whatever their family is doing. Check our Google and Facebook reviews for detailed experiences from our adopters.

Our bloodlines reflect that same commitment to quality. Our current sire, TICA Champion USAPurrs Hawthorn, carries a rare, selective, traditional-line pedigree tracing directly back to the breed's original lines. Our cats descend from award-winning lineage, including Lifetime Achievement Award winners, International Winners, Supreme Grand Champions, and some of the best Ragdolls in the world. Every breeding cat is hand-raised in our home and fully health- and genetically-tested, and you can view their results, pedigrees, and awards on our website.

Every pet and show pet kitten leaves Moonseed spayed or neutered, vaccinated, vet-checked, and registered with TICA and CFA, backed by a signed health guarantee, one we're proud to say is among the best in the Ragdoll industry.

We offer breeding rights to established & qualified ethical catteries.

About Studs

Our current king is TICA Champion USAPurrs "Hawthorn" of Moonseed, a blue mitted boy with a blaze and a 100% traditional pedigree, no outcrossing, with 97% of his lineage tracing straight back to the original cats owned by Ann Baker. He came to us from Brianne Defoe of USAPurrs, and in 2021 he was named TICA's second-best blue mitted Ragdoll in the Great Lakes Region.

Hawthorn has the build people picture when they think "Ragdoll" , large, substantial, with a soft, heavy coat and a big fanning tail, but it's his temperament that really sets him apart.
He's independent but endlessly gentle, the kind of cat who still melts into a lap despite his size, and goes fully limp when he's held. That combination of size, type, and an easygoing nature is exactly what he passes on to his kittens, and it's why we were so glad for the chance to work with these lines.

Before Hawthorn, our foundation king was HappyKatRags "Day Tripper" (Tripp) , a TICA Regional Winner, Quintuple Grand Champion, and CFA Champion, blue lynx mitted, from Lisa Simione of HappyKatRags. Tripp is retired now, but his type and temperament live on in our program through his daughter, Cleome. Daytripper was rated top 10 Ragdolls in the world!

About the Queens

Our queens each bring something different to the program, but they share the same easygoing, deeply affectionate nature we breed for above everything else.

Mirumkitty "Primrose" of Moonseed came to us from Judit Jozán of Mirumkitty in Hungary. She's a seal bicolor with a lovely expression, sired by TICA Lifetime Achievement Award winner "Handsome as Hell" — and she's just as sweet as her pedigree suggests, always in the middle of whatever's going on in the house.

Supurrsonic "Dream a Lil Dream" of MoonSeed came to us from Dominika of Supurrsonic, the longest-standing Ragdoll cattery in Poland, with 17 years of award-winning lines behind her. Dream is a seal bicolor with a genuinely exceptional coat, and about as mellow and low-key as a Ragdoll gets, the kind of cat who's happy just cat-loafing and kneading air biscuits for hours.

Moonseed "Cleome" is our first homebred queen, a blue lynx mitted girl, daughter of our foundation king Day Tripper and our beloved matriarch Gaia. She carries her sire's size and both parents' temperament: confident, patient, and genuinely eager to meet every new person.

And we can't leave out Buttercuprags "Gaia" of MoonSeed, our original foundation queen, now happily retired as a full-time house cat. Gaia may be retired from breeding, but her temperament shaped everything we look for in a queen, and it shows in every one of her kittens' offspring still in our program today.

Every queen and king in our cattery is health and genetically tested before being bred, with results, pedigrees, and awards available to view. It's how we back up the health guarantee we stand behind.

About the Kittens

Ragdolls have a reputation for going limp when you pick them up, following you room to room, and acting more like a dog than a cat, and ours live up to this. Temperament comes first for us, before anything else.

We don't breed for a certain look at the expense of a laid-back, affectionate cat.

Every cat in our program is chosen because they're gentle, easygoing, and genuinely love being around people, and that's what gets passed down to their kittens.

Health comes right after temperament.

Every breeding cat is genetic and health tested, and we've never had a case of HCM or FIP in our kittens, not once, in six years. That's not luck. It's why we test before we breed, and why we enlisted a DVM feline specialist with over 40 years of experience to help us design our cattery management protocols. We did this at the very start of our cattery and it was the bst investment.

We do also breed for type, the big-boned, plush bunny-coated, blue-eyed look that people picture when they think "Ragdoll."

Our lines go back to award-winning cats: Lifetime Achievement winners, International Winners, Supreme Grand Champions.

Our current sire, TICA Champion USAPurrs Hawthorn, carries a rare, traditional-line pedigree 97% traceable to the original Ragdoll cats owned by Anne Baker. There is a rare few Ragdoll cat breeders world-wide who can offer that.

When you adopt from us, your kitten comes spayed or neutered, vaccinated, vet-checked, and registered with TICA and CFA. You also get a genetic health guarantee, and it includes coverage for health, genetic issues and specific HCM and FIP guarantees.

Read our reviews. Our Google and Facebook reviews are full of families who talk about the ease of our adoption process, how healthy and well-adjusted their kitten turned out to be, and how much support they got from us long after they brought their kitten home. That's the reputation we've built, and we take it seriously.

For qualified, ethical, registered catteries who practice strict spay/neuter policies, we also offer breeding rights on select kittens, backed by our full breeding guarantee. We are now offering this in order to pass on the rare traditional lines of our sire, Hawthorn before he retires.
