Developed naturally from cats brought to Europe by the Romans. Formally recognised as a distinct breed in 1982.
Appearance
Medium to large, muscular build with a round head and short, dense coat. Comes in virtually all colours and patterns except colourpoint.
Character
Intelligent, independent, and adaptable. Affectionate without being demanding. Generally very healthy with active outdoor tendencies.
