Munchkin Cat Breeders

Introduction

The Munchkin is a charming breed characterised by its naturally short legs caused by a genetic mutation. Despite their short stature, Munchkins are active, playful, and agile cats that live full, healthy lives with big personalities.

History

The modern Munchkin breed was established in 1983 when a pregnant short-legged stray cat was rescued in Louisiana. TICA officially accepted the Munchkin in 1994.

Appearance

Normal-sized bodies with notably short legs. Both shorthaired and longhaired varieties in virtually all colours and patterns.

Character

Outgoing, playful, and confident. Sociable with people and animals. Known for sitting up on haunches like prairie dogs to get a better view.
