The Siberian is Russia’s national cat breed — a large, powerful, and strikingly beautiful cat with a thick triple coat designed for harsh Russian winters. Known for its affectionate dog-like personality and low-allergen qualities.
History
Documented in Russian literature for over 1,000 years. Developed naturally in the forests of Siberia and formally registered in St. Petersburg in 1987. Imported to the West in the early 1990s.
Appearance
Large, muscular cats with a rounded broad head and large expressive eyes. Thick water-resistant triple coat in all colours. Distinctive ruff around the neck and bushy tail.
Character
Affectionate, playful, and dog-like in loyalty. Love being near their owners, enjoy interactive play. Often recommended for allergy sufferers due to lower Fel d1 protein levels.
