Somali Cat Breeders

Introduction

The Somali is the longhaired version of the Abyssinian, known as the fox cat for its bushy tail and plumed ears. A strikingly beautiful and entertaining companion that brings elegance and energy to every household.

History

Emerged from longhaired Abyssinian litters in the 1960s in North America. Initially considered a fault, the longhaired gene was eventually embraced and a separate breed programme was established.

Appearance

Slender, muscular body with a distinctly bushy fox-like tail and tufted ears. Ticked coat in ruddy, red, blue, and fawn with multiple colour bands on each hair.

Character

Active, playful, and endlessly curious. Love to climb, explore, and play. Very social and enjoy the company of people and other pets.
