History
Developed naturally around Lake Van in eastern Turkey. Introduced to the West in the 1950s. The van colour pattern — white with coloured head and tail — is named after this breed.

Large, muscular cats with a semi-long silky water-resistant coat. Classic pattern: predominantly white with coloured markings on head and tail. One of the largest domestic breeds.
