Introduction
The Selkirk Rex is a unique curly-coated breed with a plush, curly coat and teddy-bear appearance. Unlike other rex breeds, it has a rounded cobby build combined with distinctive curls. Relaxed, patient, and affectionate.
History
Discovered in 1987 in Montana, USA. Developed using this kitten and outcrossed with British Shorthairs, Persians, and Exotics. TICA recognised the breed in 1990.
Appearance
Round, muscular body with a broad head and full cheeks. Distinctive curly coat in both shorthaired and longhaired varieties with random loose curl pattern in all colours.
Character
Patient, tolerant, and people-oriented. Playful but not hyperactive. Very relaxed temperament, making them good with children and other pets.
